MARO MICHALAKAKOS'S METRONOMES ARE NEW WINDOW DISPLAY FOR HERMÈS, ATHENS
511 Gallery artist Maro Michalakakos has created and installed life-sized sculptures from her Metronomes series for the windows of Hermès on Voukourestiou in Athens. The luxury store's theme, Beautiful Escape, provided an outlet for Greek artist Michalakakos's fantasy-driven work. The display consists of four giant metronomes, each with arms and legs carrying Hermès handbags, silk scarves and various articles of clothing. The display opened on May 18 to a large audience and will be in Hermès's quarterly magazine, Le Monde d'Hermès. Hermès is the French fashion house that specializes in fine luxury items such as leather goods, silks and jewelry. Maro Michalakakos's window installation soon can be viewed on the Hermès website at http://www.hermes.com.
