Matt Ernst's collaged canvases combine layers of found materials with the artist's own hand to create open narratives of conflict, fear, hope, violence, and isolation within the natural world. Ernst received his degree at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and attended the Berklee College of Music. His work has been shown in New York, Santa Fe, Miami, Florence, Vienna, and Barcelona. He has had a number of solo exhibitions in New York, was given a two-person exhibition at the Housatonic Museum of Art in Bridgeport, CT, and his Icarus paintings were included in a group exhibition at the Brattleboro Arts Center in Vermont. Matt Ernst lives and works in New York. His most recent body of work, The Future of an Illusion, was recently reviewed in ArtNews Magazine.
